Canada bound and all going smoothly...

So we have made it to the airport and we are all checked in. The level of faff has been minimal which has taken us both by surprise. In fact the only item that caused a stir at security was the undisclosed tube of toothpaste! Air transat where brilliant in allowing both of us to take an extra bag of sporting equipment for free. Even if this did require dressing the 4 canoe paddles up as fishing rods and for ray to flutter his eyes at the lady behind the counter... not true, shut up Nathan you'll get me in trouble! Well if it wasn't the eye fluttering, it was probably sympathy for me having to put up with the old man...

It also turns out that ray took the fishing trip idea seriously and has just whipped out a box of fly's for my viewing pleasure. I don't see why the fish like them... every time I pick one up I get a hook in my finger.

There is however a downside to being the first at the checking desk in the morning... the waiting, especially when ray is impatient as hell and enjoys a good moan (usually provoked by me.) The other downside is that I have already started a list. "Things that have been forgotten." Despite only being started a few minutes ago it already has a range of items on such as:

- maps
- spare compass
- boat lashings
- socks (Nathan)
- Rays sense of humour.

If anybody locates the last one please get it mailed out to us. It is an essential component of the expedition and without it it may be only me coming back. There are alot of places to hide a body out there...
